Add GST to a price or remove GST from a total. Works for India, Australia, Singapore and more. Net, GST and gross amounts with CGST/SGST split.

Enter an amount and GST rate to instantly calculate the GST amount, net price and gross total. Switch modes to add GST or extract GST from a GST-inclusive price.

A GST (Goods and Services Tax) calculator lets you add tax to a net price or strip it out of a GST-inclusive price in one step. Enter the amount, choose whether you are working from an exclusive or inclusive figure, set the rate, and the net price, GST amount and gross total appear instantly.

GST is used in many countries around the world — India charges rates of 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%; Australia uses a flat 10%; Singapore levies 9%. In India, intra-state GST is split equally into CGST (Central) and SGST (State), while inter-state transactions attract IGST at the full rate. This calculator shows the CGST/SGST split automatically.

It is handy for invoices, quotations, expense reports and tax filing. Adding GST multiplies the net price by one plus the rate; removing GST divides the gross price by the same factor to recover the original net amount and reveal the tax portion.

How to use

  1. Choose whether to add GST to a net amount or remove it from a GST-inclusive price.
  2. Enter the amount.
  3. Set the GST rate (e.g. 18% for India, 10% for Australia).
  4. Read the net price, GST amount, gross total and CGST/SGST split below.

Formula

GST is added on top of the net price or extracted from the gross price.

Add GSTGross = Net × (1 + rate / 100)
Remove GSTNet = Gross / (1 + rate / 100)
GST amountGST = Gross − Net
CGST / SGSTCGST = SGST = GST / 2

Worked examples

₹1,000 at 18% GST

A net price of ₹1,000 at 18% GST adds ₹180 of GST (₹90 CGST + ₹90 SGST) for a gross total of ₹1,180.

Frequently asked questions

What is GST?

GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a comprehensive indirect tax on the supply of goods and services. It replaced multiple cascading taxes in countries like India (2017), Australia, Singapore and others.

How is GST calculated?

For exclusive GST: GST = Amount × Rate / 100, and Total = Amount + GST. For inclusive GST: Net = Total / (1 + Rate / 100), and GST = Total − Net.

What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?

In India, for intra-state sales GST is split equally into CGST (Central) and SGST (State). For inter-state sales the full rate is charged as IGST (Integrated GST).

What GST rate should I use?

Common rates are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% in India; 10% in Australia; 7% in Singapore. Use the rate applicable to your product or service.

How do I remove GST from a price?

Switch to GST Inclusive mode. The calculator divides the total by (1 + rate / 100) to find the original price before GST.
